Your bathroom should be a place of peace and calm where you can enjoy some much-needed relaxation at the end of the day. But more often than not, it’s a space you share with your family and that means everyone’s toiletries on the sink and bath toys all over the floor. Not exactly relaxing.
The good news is that you don’t have to spend a fortune to bring a sense of zen to your bathroom.
WANT TO TURN IT INTO AN OASIS OF CALM? TRY THESE QUICK-FIX TIPS:
1. CLEAN UP
The first step to creating a calmer space is to clean it. Deep clean all surfaces, polish up the mirrors, and make sure the shower door and fixtures are streak-free. A clean space will instantly make you feel more in control and calmer.
2. CLEAR THE CLUTTER
How many tubs of face cream or tooth paste tubes do you need? Do a bathroom stock take and make sure to get rid of any expired products. Then, keep only one of each item close at hand and either store or discard the rest. Soap is a good example – get rid of all those little scraps of soap and use a soap dispenser instead. Clean, neat, calm.
3. GET SORTED
The jumble of bathroom products and toys left lying around by your family will only make your space feel chaotic. Get all items off the floor and the vanity. Install a laundry basket for dirty clothes and towels. Invest in storage containers (in the shower, next to the bath, on your vanity, in the cabinet) for your different products. Plastic storage containers work wonders in a bathroom as they are easy to clean and re-use. Gather up all the bath toys and place them in a container on the side of the bath or in a mesh bag that allows for easy drying. Remember these words – a place for everything and everything in its place!
4. ADD A TOUCH OF PAINT
When was the last time you painted your bathroom walls? Or ceiling? A neutral colour will refresh your bathroom and create a soothing backdrop. Make sure the curtains, blinds, and fixtures are aesthetically appealing and work well together, and with your new colour.
5. FRESH TOWELS, PLEASE
Take a long, hard look at your bath towels, hand towels, and mat. Are they dated? Faded? Do they need to be replaced? Combined with some quality bath products and scented candles, fluffy fresh towels can make your bathroom feel like a spa.
In a few simple steps, you can transform your bathroom space – moving away from a cramped, messy area to a pretty, soothing space that will leave you feeling calm and organised. Where to start?
